Strategic Purpose

Connection is what transforms a collection of assets into a leverage system. Two connected assets are more valuable than two isolated ones. The network effect multiplies value without proportional cost.

How This Step Works

Connecting assets means creating deliberate links between them -- technically (cross-linking, shared data layers), commercially (cross-promotion, bundled offerings), and strategically (positioning each asset as part of a larger system that others can see and trust).

Common Mistakes

Operating assets in silos. Each asset should reference, support, and funnel into others in the portfolio. A website that does not connect to a dataset, a community, or another property is working at half capacity.

Example Applications

A website connects to a dataset through an API layer. The dataset feeds an AI tool. The AI tool connects back to the website as a feature. An email list promotes all three. The IP framework behind all of them is the organizing structure that makes the whole system coherent.
